Fernando Alonso has hit out at the limits imposed on the teams in Formula One’s pre-season testing and called for a drastic overhaul of the format. Each team can only field one car per day, meaning each driver will get one full day in the car and will have to share the third day. Alternatively, the drivers could split the morning and afternoon sessions on each of the three days. Alonso believes both arrangements are far from ideal for the drivers and questioned Formula One’s decision to limit testing to just three days. ‘There’s no other sport in the world […] With all the money involved, and with all the marketing and the good things that we say about Formula 1, and being closer and closer to the fans, I cannot understand why we then go to Bahrain for four days, which could be two and two for [each of] the drivers.
