Should Lewis Hamilton’s seismic move to Ferrari come to fruition, it would see a reunion between the Briton and his former mentor which has been 20 years in the making. The Formula One world was sent into bedlam on Thursday after reports emerged that Hamilton is close to switching from Mercedes to The Prancing Horse. And one man has surely had huge sway in enticing Hamilton to Ferrari: Fred Vasseur. Hamilton won Formula Three and GP2 (now Formula Two) championships with Vasseur’s ART team in 2005 and 2006 before making a spectacular Formula One debut with McLaren in 2007. Formula One pundit Will Buxton reflected on Hamilton’s special relationship with Vasseur following the bomshell news on Thursday.
