After a lot of confusion, Max Verstappen has been crowned 2022 world champion!. His second title comes with four races left to go after Charles Leclerc suffered a 5-second penalty. F1 has declared Max Verstappen is the 2022 world champion after Leclerc is demoted to third place but it seems they have got it wrong. Race leaders Verstappen and Leclerc are the next to pit and swap to intermediates. Verstappen leads Leclerc, while Perez, Ocon and Hamilton fill out the top five. And Carlos Sainz has gone into the barrier and is OUT of the race. Verstappen finishes first with fastest lap: Verstappen is world champion. Verstappen finishes first without fastest lap: Leclerc places no higher than third. Verstappen finishes second: Leclerc places no higher than fifth with fastest lap. Verstappen finishes third with fastest lap: Leclerc places no higher than sixth. Verstappen finishes third without fastest lap: Leclerc places no higher than seventh. Verstappen finishes fourth: Leclerc places no higher than eighth. Verstappen finishes fifth: Leclerc places no higher than ninth. Verstappen finishes sixth: Leclerc must not score inside the top 10. Verstappen finishes seventh or lower: Verstappen cannot claim the title at Suzuka. Will today be the day that Max Verstappen secures a second world title?.
