Lewis Hamilton misses out on his 100th career pole to Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas at Portugal Grand Prix while Red Bull title rival Max Verstappen will start third

Sir Lewis Hamilton was denied his 100th pole position by Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who fought the windy conditions in qualifying for the Portuguese Grand Prix. It is advantage Mercedes as Valtteri Bottas takes pole with Lewis Hamilton second, ahead of third-placed Max Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton does not improve on his time and Bottas puts his car on pole! The Red Bull driver can only start from P3 or lower with a 1:18.6. Valtteri Bottas leads the lap times and leads Lewis Hamilton by 0.007 seconds. Lewis Hamilton is looking for his 100th career pole position. The Mercedes driver has his fastest lap time deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn 1. As we enter the final ten minutes, Lewis Hamilton records the fastest lap with a 1:18:7 and Yuki Tsunoda, George Russell, Mick Schumacher, Nicolas Latifi and Nikita Mazepin are in danger of elimination.
