Lewis Hamilton admitted that he was ‘totally at fault’ for colliding with McLaren rookie Oscar Piastri in the Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton was handed a five-second penalty by the stewards for the entangling of wheels as the pair fought over eighth place on lap 41 of the race at Monza. It was a clumsy error by Hamilton, a kind he has seldom made in his stellar career. Hamilton, 38, spoke to the Australian and shook his hand immediately after the race finished, later explaining: ‘It was totally my fault. ‘I knew shortly afterwards it must have been my fault and I wanted to make sure he knew it wasn’t intentional.
