For a genius who can defy belief with daring and drama, Max Verstappen became world champion for a third time without a fanfare move of his own. ‘The first was the most emotional because my dreams were fulfilled, but this has been my best year. He attended the first Formula One race ever, at Silverstone in 1950, and has seen them all since. Lewis understands people and gets the best out of them, whereas Max gets the best out of the car. When Lewis stops racing, he can get into a different world – entertainment or whatever – but that won’t be the way Max could go.
