Injured Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo will extend his career into 2024 after locking in a driver’s seat with AlphaTauri for next season. Ricciardo debuted with the sister team of Red Bull this season after AlphaTauri sacked Dutch driver Nyck de Vries for a string of below par performances. Ricciardo said he was ‘stoked’ to be driving with Yuki again next year and continuing the journey with AlphaTauri. However AlphaTauri Team Principal Franz Tost said Ricciardo’s ‘personal attitude and racing experience will be precious assets in 2024’. Ricciardo previously raced for AlphaTauri when the team was called Toro Rosso in 2012 and 2013 and since gone on to secure eight Grand Prix wins. He could return in Qatar, but AlphaTauri head of trackside engineering Jonathan Eddolls said he would not be rushed back.
