Another dismal round in an already horrorible season will see McLaren get rid of Australian F1 star Daniel Ricciardo, a former F1 champion has declared. ‘Daniel Ricciardo’s time at McLaren is over,’ Villeneuve declared in his column for Formule1.nl. ‘He doesn’t bring in any points and he doesn’t have the speed the team needs to develop the car. Brown said before the weekend of racing that Norris already had ‘the edge’ over Ricciardo and the Aussie needed a big performance in Monaco to turn his year around. I need to – even if I don’t do the race – I need to drive a Supercar around Bathurst,’ he told GP Racing magazine at the time. ‘Whether it’s a private test, or the actual race, I do need to do it.
