Christian Horner defends Max Verstappen’s controversial Formula One triumph as Red Bull chief insists that critics have ‘short memories’ and his man is ‘absolutely a deserving world champion’

Christian Horner believes that Formula One fans and pundits have ‘short memories’ as the Red Bull chief once again insisted that Max Verstappen is a deserving world champion. Verstappen, 24, won the world championship in controversial fashion last month after passing Mercedes rival Lewis Hamilton, 36, on the final lap of the season finale in Abu Dhabi. As a result, a large portion of fans believe that Hamilton was harshly robbed of a record-breaking eighth world championship, but Red Bull chief Horner has reminded critics that they have ‘short memories’. Max is a very deserving world champion, we are incredibly proud of that, and the history books will always show he is the 2021 world champion.’.
