British karting star Joe Turney suffers horror injury as ankle smashed by rival kart at FIA World Finals

BRITISH star Joe Turney suffered a sickening injury after being hit by a rival kart in a horrifying clash at the FIA World Finals. Turney, 22, had been leading before being overtaken by Gabriel Gomez. Despite his chances of winning having evaporated after being overtaken by eight rivals, Turney hauled his kart back on to the track in a bid to get going again. As he did so, Spaniard Nacho Tunon came haring round the corner, subsequently running over Turney’s ankle. After being assisted by a marshal the race was red flagged and Turney was stretchered off. Updating fans, Turney wrote on Instagram: “I want to say a massive thank you to EVERYONE for the support they’ve given with messages etc.
