NXG Creates Path for Two Lights Crew Members To Flourish

NXG Youth Motorsports and co-founder Rod Reid have worked overtime for more than 15 years to try to create opportunities for minority students and underrepresented communities with the goal of helping them land in open-wheel racing and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. It takes a crew to make this team come to life on the racetrack, and two of the people who lead this crew and build Indy Lights cars are Derrick Morris and Stu Kelly, both graduates of NXG Youth Motorsports. Like his co-worker Morris, with whom he works on Francis’ No. 99 car with each race weekend, NXG inspired Kelly to further his education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). “We know we’re doing this as a community and we’re doing this for the community as a part of the Race for Equality & Change, part of the history of NXG.
