Max Verstappen takes pole for the third consecutive year at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as Sebastian Vettel finishes ninth fastest for his F1 swansong at Yas Marina on Sunday

Lewis Hamilton will have to pass both Red Bulls and both Ferraris to maintain his record of winning in every season of his career after Max Verstappen secured pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Clearly a strategy here from Red Bull, who are using Verstappen to help Perez speed up in his slip stream. Mercedes head out ahead of Ferrari and Red Bull as Russell and Hamilton hunt down pole. Perez keeps a grip on top spot as Leclerc and Sainz go second and third fastest respectively, with Verstappen in fourth and Hamilton in five. Only two minutes left in Q2… Hamilton goes second fastest just 0.355 seconds behind Perez, knocking Verstappen down to third. As predicted, Red Bull go quickest so far, with Perez leading ahead of Verstappen, Sainz, Norris and Leclerc. Will Verstappen make it three poles in three years in Abu Dhabi?.
