How Daniel Ricciardo proved he’s all class in his first catch-up with Oscar Piastri and his manager Mark Webber since the Aussie F1 great got young gun to replace him at McLaren

Aussie F1 star Daniel Ricciardo continues to hold his head high after being replaced at McLaren by compatriot Oscar Piastri. ‘I don’t want to make it a bad situation for him, and that’s that. Webber, who won nine F1 races, was a crucial cog in getting Piastri a seat at McLaren despite Ricciardo being contracted for another year. Webber admitted he ‘felt bad’ at the way the situation worked out for Ricciardo and wanted apologise, but the McLaren reject said it wasn’t necessary, although he appreciated the sentiment. ‘I feel he [Webber] didn’t need to, but he felt like he wanted to, in a way, apologise and try to just see how I’m doing,’ Ricciardo said. While Piastri is confirmed as a McLaren driver for next season, it’s still unknown where Ricciardo will end up on the grid – if he remains in the sport.
