Finding the silver bullet to porpoising, taking advantage of the Red Bull-Ferrari battle and unlocking the huge potential in the Mercedes… how Lewis Hamilton can haul himself back into F1 title race after Saudi horror show

Certainly in his time as a Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton’s 10th place finish at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix marked one of his lowest points with the Silver Arrows. Already Hamilton trails championship leader Charles Leclerc by 29 points – more than a race winning margin – and his Mercedes car looks way off the pace of even battling for victories, let alone title fights. Right now, it looks a disaster but the new Mercedes for this season does have potential to become a title challenger. Mercedes are not known for following others in design – just take their wacky no sidepods car this term. While Mercedes are still looking for solutions, their rivals are helping them by taking points off each other. As they take points off each other, they are simply slowing the rate that either one of them can take full advantage of Mercedes’ early pain.
