The 1999 Formula 1 season proved to be one of Team Silverstone’s finest campaigns, winning two races with Heinz-Harald Frentzen and becoming outside title contenders. And there was plenty of reason to celebrate a well-earned victory in the 1999 French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours, as Frentzen’s expert driving combined with pitwall excellence yielded an unlikely win for Jordan. It was a weekend in which the pre-race favourites of Ferrari and McLaren stumbled, and Jordan stormed to a first win of the campaign. At the start, Frentzen battled his way into fourth and enjoyed a battle with McLaren’s Mika Häkkinen – and not for the first time in 1999!. The Jordan man wouldn’t be caught, and he crossed the line to take the first Jordan win of the 1999 season. Frentzen would be victorious again at Monza later that year before the final Jordan win came in 2003 in Brazil through Fisichella.
